Alaka-i School and Residences Towers (2018-2019)

Hawaiian energy costs make renewable energy sources an important decision when considering operating costs for buildings. Energy efficiency is the first step to sizing RE supply and energy storage capacity. By reducing the load demand and smoothing the peaks, LumenCache helps reduce the cost of all building infrastructure systems.

Alaka’i Development team gained experience with LumenCache from several projects in Ohio by Forest City Enterprises. The lessons learned and engineering will be directly applied to the school, parking garage, and residences to further reduce soft costs of the project.

The Alaka’i Development team brings experience from over $1.2B in property development and management in Hawaii.

Project Overview:
DoE School
6 story parking garage
595 residential units in two attached towers
Solar and battery storage
Energy Excelerator grant applied for ($1M) to jumpstart development and grow Hawaii jobs
